Sacred Heart at St. Bernard is a revitalized community hub located in the heart of the 7th Ward, built on the foundation of the historic Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The redevelopment features a blend of residential and commercial spaces, preserving the church's iconic structure while providing much-needed housing in the area. The project includes 53 units, with six apartments housed within the church itself, emphasizing the balance between maintaining historic integrity and modern living needs.
The adaptive reuse of the church aims to foster community connections and provide affordable housing options. In addition to residential units, the complex has a communal space that promotes social interaction, featuring a lounge and a coffee bar, making it a gathering place for residents and the local community.

This project exemplifies a growing trend in New Orleans, where historic churches are being transformed into functional spaces that serve contemporary community needs. By repurposing such important landmarks, Sacred Heart at St. Bernard contributes to the preservation of local culture while addressing housing shortages in the neighborhood
